What is PDLC Film?
PDLC stands for Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal. It is an advanced technology where microscopically small liquid crystals are dispersed in a polymer matrix between two conductive layers.
This unique composition makes it possible to electrically control the light transmission of the film, giving you full control over privacy and transparency.
The Technology Explained
Discover how PDLC film works by using the interactive demonstration.
Privacy Mode (Power Off)
Without electrical voltage, the liquid crystals are randomly oriented. This causes light scattering, making the film opaque and appearing milky white. Light still comes through, but vision is blocked.
Transparent Mode (Power On)
When electrical voltage is applied, the crystals align in the same direction. This allows light to pass through unobstructed and the film becomes fully transparent with >88% light transmission.
Layer Structure
PDLC film consists of multiple specialized layers that work together to enable the switchable privacy function.
Technical Specifications
Our high-quality PDLC film meets the strictest quality requirements.
Benefits of PDLC Technology
PDLC film offers numerous advantages over traditional privacy solutions.
Installation
The installation of PDLC film is simple and can be performed on any existing flat glass surface.
Preparation
The glass surface is thoroughly cleaned and degreased for optimal adhesion.
Application
The film is applied wet and air bubbles are removed with a squeegee.
Connection
The busbar is connected to the transformer and control system.
Finishing
The edges are finished with neutral silicone for a neat finish.
